What began as a simple desire to make my very own pottery mug in 1994 quickly evolved into a life-long passion for creating with clay.
Welcome! I’m Cherie, a self-taught potter, living in the foothills of western Maine. My home studio is surrounded by peaceful woods and trails where the natural world inspires me. I recognize these sparks in my clay work and in the glazes I personally prepare. My handcrafted ceramics reflect nature-inspired hues, forms, and textures that I observe. Lately, I have been exploring techniques that fascinate me, like wood firing, raku, and image transfers on clay using slip designs made by me. I’m also making wonderful, new clay-friends along the way!
Outside of the studio, I am an administrative assistant at an anthropological research foundation. I also help care for our local woods and trails with BWC, and teach clay at Ticonic Gallery + Studios in Waterville, ME.
Wherever I am, I can often be found with a favorite mug in hand. Using my handmade pottery brings me a smile. I hope my ceramics radiate the same joy for you, and become a treasured part of your everyday.
