My functional ceramics may safely be used in the microwave and dishwasher. However, delicate pottery should be washed by hand.

Avoid placing ceramics directly over heat, as this can cause cracks. When using pottery in the oven, warm it gradually. Start by putting your pottery with its contents into the cold oven, then heat the oven and pottery up together.

My birdhouses can be used outside. If winters are snowy and cold like in Maine, bring your birdhouse inside. Freezing temperatures can cause trapped water to crack the ceramic.
